The Joel B. Roberts house at 1011 State St., Eau Clare, is of "Gothic Revival" architecture. It was built in 1866 by Bradley C. Marcy, a stone mason who came from New York State. Additions were made in 1876 and 1916. Stones were gathered from the nearby Eau Claire and Chippewa rivers. Inner stones came from local quarries. It is believed to be the only cobblestone house in northwestern Wisconsin. It was listed on the National Register in 1974 and the Wisconsin State Register in 1989. Richard Palmer blog.
